Courtroom footage shows Kelli Bryant during her sentencing hearing (WJBK).
A Michigan mother who entered a no-contest plea after authorities said she left her three children alone in a filthy condominium has been ordered to serve time in prison.
Kelli Bryant, 35, was sentenced Tuesday to six to 30 years behind bars after pleading no contest in July to three counts of child abuse. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies found Bryant’s children — ages 15, 13 and 12 — during a February 2025 welfare check at a condominium in Pontiac, Michigan. Investigators said the residence was filled with filth, and the children told police they had been living without adult supervision since 2020 or 2021.
According to police, Bryant had effectively abandoned the children while she pursued a lifestyle without them.

Brennan later addressed Bryant directly, saying, “During this time, your needs were met. Not perfectly, but you moved about in the world. You used toilets that flush. You had human contact. You had your physical needs met. And you were not sleeping on pizza boxes, surrounded by filth.”
Bryant’s sentence, with its minimum of six years behind bars, ensures that by the time she is eligible for parole, all of her children will be adults.
