A New Jersey mom who allegedly crashed her car while driving drunk while her kids were in the car now faces multiple felony charges.
Megan Fackler, 39, was caught on bodycam by Ewing Township police on Oct. 5, 2024, after officers responded to the scene of a vehicle collision. Fackler was the driver of an SUV that allegedly collided with a box truck. When police questioned her, she slurred her words and seemed confused as to what direction she had been driving.
Despite some resistance, Fackler eventually submitted to a field sobriety test. She was later allegedly found to have a blood alcohol level of .371, more than four times the legal limit.
In the newly released bodycam footage, which was obtained by Transparency Bodycam on YouTube, Fackler can be heard telling officers, “I work for the DOT, I know how this works.”
According to reporting by WPVI, a local ABC affiliate based in Philadelphia that covers parts of New Jersey, Fackler is listed as an employee of New Jersey’s Department of Transportation. A source confirmed to the station that she is still employed there.
Throughout the encounter with police, Fackler states that she is going through a divorce and living with her brother. When police point out to her that there are “empty wine bottles in the back” of her vehicle, she attempted to explain that they were “from weeks ago.”
WPVI obtained court documents that stated that Fackler’s three children were taken to the hospital following the crash. At the beginning of the bodycam video posted to Transparency Bodycam, one of the children, whose images were blurred out, told police, “We’re all okay, thank you” when asked if anyone was injured.
Fackler was administered a breath test at the police station after being taken into custody. She was charged with DUI, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, and other citations.
