Body camera footage shows police confronting an Ohio mother for leaving her children in her car to go shopping.
“You can’t leave your kids in the car by themselves like that,” an officer told Mycal Davis on Feb. 4 outside the Giant Eagle Market District grocery store.

“But they were sleeping,” she answered. Davis told cops she was getting dinner.
The officer described the children as crying and said that the doors were unlocked.
“Anybody can walk up, jump in the car, and take off with them,” another officer told her.
Ultimately, no one in the video described the children suffering injuries. Cops issued Davis a citation for child endangerment.
“The other option to that would have been actually taking you to jail,” the second officer said.
Police scheduled a court appearance to take place Wednesday at 9 a.m.
“When we get calls on dogs being left in the hot summer car or whatever, we write the people a ticket for animal cruelty,” the first officer said. “These are little human beings, right. We take a little more care of them than our own pets.”
The officer went on to say that he wasn’t trying to judge Davis harshly — just that she needs to pay more attention to her kids.
“I’m not saying this makes you a bad mother or anything like that, but we got a 1-year-old that needs you,” the officer added.
