On Monday, authorities in Arizona stated that Nancy Guthrie’s family remains uninvolved in her mysterious disappearance.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos clarified that no evidence implicates Guthrie’s relatives, including her siblings and their partners, in the 84-year-old’s suspected kidnapping. Details about when and how they were exonerated have not been released by the officials.
“Any insinuation otherwise is not only incorrect but heartless. The Guthrie family are unequivocally victims,” Nanos emphasized in a social media update.
The sheriff also noted that there are currently no press conferences planned. He previously mentioned that a media briefing would be held once significant developments occur in the investigation.
In a bid to gather leads, the FBI unveiled video footage and images from surveillance cameras capturing an individual near Guthrie’s residence around her disappearance on January 31. Concerns were heightened the next day when she didn’t show up at a friend’s home for virtual church services.
In addition to locating Guthrie, police are investigating two ransom notes that were reportedly sent to local news outlets. One of the notes demanded millions in Bitcoin in exchange for Guthrie’s return. A glove found near Guthrie’s Tucson home, resembling one seen in the surveillance video, is being analyzed.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made.
