A man accused of taking a missing Iowa teen to North Carolina last weekend now faces charges in two states.

John Johnson, 25, was initially arrested in Reidsville, North Carolina, after authorities found the missing 15-year-old girl there, WHO reported. She was reunited with her family and Johnson was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation by computer.

He had allegedly been communicating with the teen, who lived in Fairfield, Iowa, and apparently drove there and brought her back to his home state.

Fairfield Police contacted their North Carolina counterparts when the investigation revealed they could be in that jurisdiction.

The girl was reunited with her family.

This week, the Fairfield Police Department announced that it had secured a warrant for Johnson’s arrest charging him with kidnapping.

He will remain in North Carolina until arrangements are made to extradite him to Iowa to face charges there.
