In an unusual turn of events in Florida, a neighborhood dispute over dog feces has resulted in felony charges against a man who allegedly overstepped boundaries.
Trey Decloedt, 35, was released on bond following his arrest on August 8. The incident, which occurred on August 7, stemmed from a confrontation with his neighbors in Leesburg, Florida. As detailed in a probable cause affidavit examined by Law&Crime, the neighbors reported to police that they were embroiled in a continuous conflict with Decloedt over dog waste left on both driveways. On the day in question, tensions reportedly heightened when Decloedt allegedly entered the neighbors’ home without consent.
The neighbor asserted that Decloedt appeared “visibly irate” and disturbingly held dog feces in his hand during the encounter.
Following his arrest, Decloedt was taken for questioning, during which he was informed of his rights and agreed to provide his account. According to the affidavit, Decloedt maintained that he and his neighbor shared a past friendship with an understanding that allowed them to enter each other’s homes freely, without the need to knock.
Police asked the neighbor about that purported agreement, and the neighbor played police a video in which he told Decloedt “not to come to his property or his house regarding the dispute about dog feces.”
Decloedt was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, burglary with assault or battery, and simple battery. He posted $16,000 bond on Aug. 9 and was released. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 31.
