Lucy Letby took immense pride in her role as a caregiver for infants.
As a neonatal nurse, she was entrusted with the responsibility of looking after some of the most vulnerable patients: newborn babies. However, a disturbing trend emerged when the hospital observed an unusually high number of infant deaths within a single month—an alarming figure that would typically be spread over an entire year.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that Letby was the only nurse on duty during the tragic demise of seven infants.
The heartbreaking sequence of events unfolded over a year, resulting in the deaths of seven babies, while six others managed to survive. Letby reportedly caused the infants’ distress by introducing air into their intravenous lines, poisoning some, and force-feeding others with milk.
She particularly targeted twins and triplets. This chilling case is now the subject of a compelling new documentary on Netflix, titled “The Investigation of Lucy Letby.”
