New Jersey Mourns Psychotherapist Brooke Hanlon as Her Unsolved Murder Continues to Haunt Community

In a poignant farewell, family and friends gathered to honor the life of Brooke Hanlon, a beloved figure whose sudden and tragic death left her community reeling.

Just two months following the heart-wrenching discovery of the New Jersey psychotherapist’s lifeless body in her home, Brooke was finally laid to rest. She leaves behind a precious 14-month-old daughter, Avery, whose future will forever be shaped by the absence of her devoted mother.

“Brooke was a divine gift to all who knew her, embodying roles as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend,” her obituary dated August 12 softly proclaimed. It painted the picture of a “truly loving wife and an extraordinary mother to her darling Avery” who enriched the lives of everyone around her.

The heartfelt tribute continued by capturing the depth of Brooke’s connection with Avery, describing their bond as “spiritual, holy, and everlasting.” Those privileged to have met her were left with indelible memories of Brooke’s radiant and beautiful smile, a testament to her joy-filled presence.

The grim events of June 6 remain seared in the memory of those left behind. That day, Brooke’s husband, James “Conor” Hanlon, made the shocking discovery of his wife unconscious and covered in blood at their Chester Township residence.

“Oh my God! I need an ambulance, I just found my wife,” Conor told the 911 dispatcher, according to a recording of the call obtained by Oxygen. “I don’t know what’s going on. CPR, I need CPR instruction.”

Conor later screamed, “There’s blood everywhere!”

On the scene, police described the death as “suspicious,” according to dispatch audio obtained by People

The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Brooke’s cause of death was multiple sharp force injuries and her manner of death a homicide.

By July, police were asking the public for any information concerning Brooke’s death, while Conor had retained an attorney and was in communication with authorities, according to Fox News

Conor has not been charged with a crime and Oxygen could not identify an attorney for him.

The case is now in its third month, with an MCPO spokesperson telling Oxygen on Aug. 18, “There are no updates at this time.”

Conor, who spent time in his hometown of Brighton, Mass., following her death, is now back in New Jersey, according to several residents who told People they saw his car parked outside the home.
