NEWBERRY, Fla. – Authorities have apprehended 56-year-old Matthew Cory Green on seven charges linked to child pornography offenses. The arrest took place yesterday, following a detailed investigation.

The case began on November 5, 2024, when a detective from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip, initially reported on July 25, 2024, alleged that a user on the messaging app Kik had uploaded three disturbing videos containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). The videos depicted various unlawful acts, including one with a nude pre-pubescent girl, another with an adult female and a pre-pubescent boy, and a third involving inappropriate interaction between a dog and a young girl.

According to the detective, the investigation faced delays, extending from November 2024 to July 2025, due to a backlog of CyberTips and ongoing cases requiring attention. When the investigation resumed in July, efforts were focused on obtaining search warrants from internet service providers and analyzing the information received.

The investigation linked the IP addresses used by the Kik account to a Verizon cellular account registered at Green’s residence. With this evidence, deputies secured a search warrant for the property on October 3. However, they were unable to execute the search immediately as Green was reportedly out of town, and staffing issues prevented a timely follow-up before the warrant’s expiration.

In an effort to make sure Green would be home the next time, the detective obtained a phone ping order for his phone from a judge on October 23. On October 24, the location information showed that Green was at his “believed place of employment in Jacksonville,” and he later returned to his residence; the detective verified that his vehicle was at his residence on that date.

On October 27, a second search warrant for Green’s residence was obtained, and deputies prepared to execute the search warrant, but the phone location again showed that Green was in Jacksonville.

On October 30, with Green’s phone location showing that he was at his residence, deputies and Gainesville Police Department officers executed the search warrant.

Post Miranda, Green reportedly confirmed that the phone number and email address associated with the Kik account belonged to him. He reportedly admitted to having a pornography addiction and said he had traded images and videos of pornographic material with other people; when asked about CSAM, he reportedly said he had “come across it” and that “it has been around for a long time.” When asked what he would do if he came across CSAM, he reportedly said he would “view it,” although he denied seeking it out. When asked whether he had ever searched for bestiality images or videos, Green reportedly said he had done so in the past, including files with dogs and horses.

When asked about the specific videos reportedly in the CyberTip, Green reportedly said he had “probably come across it.” When asked if any CSAM files would be found on his phone, he reportedly said, “I don’t know.”

According to a social media post from ASO, “Although Green’s residence is in close proximity to a local school [Newberry Elementary School], at this stage of the investigation, there is no evidence indicating that he had any physical contact or direct involvement with students in the area. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.”

Green has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of digital transmission of child pornography, and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Green has no local criminal history. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $200,000.
