Authorities in Gainesville, Florida, have arrested 32-year-old Rashard Jerrod Turner following an incident that has raised eyebrows and concerns. Turner is accused of indecent exposure, an allegation that stems from an unsettling scene at a Newberry Road business.
The incident unfolded on October 18th, shortly after 2:00 p.m., at an Auto Zone located on 7725 W. Newberry Road. According to reports, two employees witnessed a man allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior. The employees claim the individual, later identified as Turner, was seen touching his exposed genitals while maintaining eye contact with them through the store’s large front window.
As the situation progressed, the suspect reportedly moved away from the window and leaned against an employee’s vehicle, continuing his lewd actions in full view of onlookers. The employees were able to provide law enforcement with a detailed description of the man, aiding in the swift response by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
Approximately five minutes after the initial report, a deputy located Turner on Tower Road. During the encounter, and after being read his Miranda rights, Turner admitted to being in the vicinity of the Auto Zone parking lot. However, he refuted the accusations of exposing himself.
A deputy made contact with Turner on Tower Road about five minutes later, and post Miranda, Turner reportedly admitted that he had been in the Auto Zone parking lot but denied exposing himself.
Turner, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with two counts of indecent exposure. He has no local criminal history, and Judge James Colaw set bail at $50,000.
