Authorities in California have launched an investigation following the tragic discovery of a newborn baby at a college apartment complex on Monday. The incident has sent ripples of concern through the community.
According to reports from KABC, the full-term infant girl was found at the Cardinal Gardens Apartments, which is situated near the University of Southern California campus. This discovery came shortly after firefighters were called to the same location to assist a 20-year-old woman experiencing breathing difficulties.
Firefighters were instructed by the Los Angeles police to return to the scene after the infant was found unresponsive. At this time, it remains uncertain if there is any connection between the woman’s medical emergency and the infant’s untimely death.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has noted that the infant was approximately 19 hours old at the time of her discovery. However, the details regarding her cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
A USC student, speaking to KABC, remarked, āThey went straight to the bedroom, so Iām assuming they already knew something that happened,” hinting at the possibility that responders had prior knowledge of the situation.
Mondayās incident remains under investigation.
