Nick Reiner’s legal proceedings took an unexpected turn when his arraignment was postponed. This delay came after his attorney, Alan Jackson, withdrew from the high-profile double murder case on Wednesday.
Los Angeles County Judge Theresa McGonigle granted Jackson’s request to step down from representing the 32-year-old Reiner. Consequently, the arraignment has been rescheduled for February 23, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.
Reiner, now represented by Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene, finds himself facing serious charges. He stands accused of fatally stabbing his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, aged 78 and 70, respectively. The tragic incident took place at their residence in Brentwood, California, on December 14. The couple’s daughter discovered their bodies approximately 12 hours after the alleged murders.
The reasons behind Jackson’s decision to recuse himself remain unknown. Notably, Jackson has previously represented high-profile clients, including Harvey Weinstein and Karen Read.
Following Jackson’s withdrawal, a spokesperson for the Reiner family conveyed, “They have the utmost trust in the legal process and will not comment further on matters related to the legal proceedings,” in a statement shared with TMZ.

Reiner did not enter a plea on Wednesday, but he did verbally agree to postpone his arraignment.
A source told The New York Times that the Reiner family hired Jackson immediately after Nick Reiner’s arrest. The source also claimed that Jackson’s resignation had nothing to do with his performance.
Reports indicated that Nick Reiner was removed from suicide watch before Wednesday’s hearing.
