An Oklahoma attorney has been arrested after she entered an Oklahoma City daycare and tried to lure a 2-year-old out.
Investigators say Tracy Zahl, 49, walked into Westminster Presbyterian Church Child Care on July 23, entering through an unsecured door, KFOR reported. After trying to lure the toddler, telling the child “Come with me.” A teacher noticed and told her to leave.
Zahl then found a group of children and followed them to their classroom before officials ordered her off the property. She told the staff she was “sent by God to be with the children” before she left.
Oklahoma City Police found her at her home, less than a mile from the facility, and took her into custody after one of the teachers had written down a partial license plate number as she left, Law&Crime reported. She told arresting officers that she made a mistake, but the officers noted that she has no children or grandchildren at the daycare and had no reason to be inside
KFOR noted that Zahl had been suspended from the Oklahoma Bar Association for a year after she was arrested for a prescription forgery, and she was charged with two misdemeanors in 2021 for threats to kill a former employer and coworker.
Zahl is being held on a $30,000 bond, charged with kidnapping.
