Authorities in Arizona are appealing for public assistance to locate a missing teenager, 16-year-old, who was last observed departing her educational institution in Maricopa County.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports that Laila Champagne Garcia was spotted on January 26 at Red Mountain High School in Mesa. Her absence was noted when she did not return home, prompting a missing person report the subsequent day.
Details regarding Laila’s attire at the time she vanished, as well as her intended destination, remain unclear, according to the MCSO.
Described as being 5 feet, 1 inch in height and weighing approximately 100 pounds, Laila has black hair and brown eyes, as per the MCSO description.
“Mesa Public Schools is informed of the incident involving a missing student who left the campus. Ensuring the safety and welfare of our students is our utmost concern,” a spokesperson for the school conveyed to People magazine.
“We are cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they lead the investigation. Due to student privacy protections and the active nature of the investigation, the district is not able to share additional details at this time.”
