A Florida mother is facing charges of child neglect after allegedly abandoning her 12-year-old daughter at a bar within Universal Studios so she could visit another bar, reportedly telling her daughter “f— you” before leaving in anger.

Amanda Thorpe, 33, was arrested following the incident described in a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime. The document reveals that Thorpe and her daughter were at CW Shoreline Bar at Universal’s CityWalk on a Saturday night when Thorpe got into a dispute with another customer while allegedly intoxicated.

Thorpe allegedly decided to head to another bar, while her daughter wanted to return to their hotel room, sparking Thorpe’s anger. According to police reports, she made an obscene gesture towards her daughter, used profane language, and left the bar. Thorpe then walked to the Red Coconut Club, leaving her daughter behind.

Concerned patrons contacted law enforcement upon noticing the girl alone at the bar. Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find the girl “visibly upset, crying, and sitting alone on a bar stool.”

Authorities tracked Thorpe to the Red Coconut, where she was found dancing alone with a drink. When questioned about her daughter’s whereabouts, Thorpe initially claimed she believed her daughter was with her. She later stated that her daughter was in their hotel room, according to police reports.

Thorpe had bloodshot eyes with an “uncontrollable swaying of the body, unbalance while walking, and the scent of fruity purities coming from her breath,” the affidavit said.

The mother was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail, where she has since posted a $2,500 bond.
