GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Investigators from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) are delving into a shooting incident coupled with a car collision that occurred late last night in the Majestic Oaks area.

Late on Tuesday, October 28, ASO Deputies were dispatched following reports of an armed altercation at the Majestic Oaks Apartments, located at 5800 SW 20th Avenue.

As deputies made their way to the scene, they discovered that a car had plowed into one of the apartment buildings, inflicting considerable damage. Upon arrival, they encountered a sizable gathering of people, still embroiled in a heated argument.

Deputies engaged with several witnesses who reported hearing gunfire and suspected that someone had been shot, though that individual was no longer present. Additionally, they observed that the vehicle involved in the crash had vanished. Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from the vehicle collision.

During the investigation into the disturbance, the Combined Communications Center received a call from an area hospital, reporting that a male had come to the location, suffering from a gunshot wound. It was learned that the male was shot during the altercation at Majestic Oaks Apartments.

This incident is being investigated by ASO’s Criminal Investigations Division, and no further details are available at this time.
