There are mothers who will go to shocking extremes for their children, even if it means facing serious consequences.

Oxygen is set to explore this chilling phenomenon with their latest addition to the true crime genre, Snapped: Killer Moms, an intriguing extension of the network’s popular Snapped series.

On December 4, Oxygen not only announced this new series but also confirmed the renewal of the original Snapped for two more captivating seasons. Additionally, they have greenlit an original documentary titled Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift, which aims to untangle the tragic cases surrounding the murders of three women known as “Hooters Girls.”

Snapped has been a foundational series for us at Oxygen, and we are excited to continue its legacy with two additional seasons,” said Cori Abraham, Senior Vice President of Unscripted Content for Versant. “The expansion into Snapped: Killer Moms, along with the compelling new documentary Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift, reinforces our dedication to providing gripping true-crime narratives that captivate and retain our audience.”

Snapped: Killer Moms promises to delve deep into the extraordinary and often unsettling measures some mothers take in the name of their children.

Snapped: Killer Moms will explore the unconventional lengths some women will go to for their children.

Snapped: Killer Moms (working title) is a true crime series that highlights high-emotion and high-stakes stories where a mother’s unconditional love twists into bloodshed, as matriarchs stop at nothing to protect or avenge their kids,” the release explains. “Each episode peels back the layers of seemingly ordinary women whose motherly instincts lead them to unthinkable violence.”

The series—which has not announced a release date yet—will be produced by Jupiter Entertainment. Patrick Reardon will serve as executive producer on the new project.

Oxygen Renews Snapped for Seasons 37 and 38

It won’t be the only way Oxygen will shine a spotlight on women who kill. The network also announced it has renewed Snapped for an additional two seasons, now extending it’s top-performing series through season 38.

“One of television’s longest running and successful true-crime franchises, Snapped has profiled the fascinating cases of women accused of heinous acts for 35 seasons,” the announcement read. “Whether the motivation was revenge against a cheating husband, the promise of a hefty insurance payoff, or putting an end to years of abuse, the reasons are as varied as the women themselves. From socialites to secretaries, these female criminals share one thing in common: at some point, they all snapped.”

Snapped—which is produced by Jupiter Entertainmentwill launch its 36th season Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. ET/PT, ahead of celebrating its milestone 700th episode next year. It has now been renewed for season 37 and 38 as well.

Snapped was the most viewed original cable entertainment series in its time slot in 2025.

Patrick Reardon, David O’Donnell and Deborah Allen serve as executive producers on the series, which is led by showrunner Madeline Griffey.

What is Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift About?

Fans can delve into the mysterious murders of three women—all connected by the same job—in Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift.

“From 2001 to 2010, three women—a newlywed, a college hopeful, and a young mom—were murdered in cold blood,” the press release states. “Separated by thousands of miles, they shared one connection: they were all ‘Hooters Girls.’”

The two-hour documentary, co-produced by Expectation and The Intellectual Property Corporation, promises to unravel the killings, while “exposing how young women who worked at the iconic ‘family-restaurant’ chain were preyed upon.”

The documentary, which was developed by Amy Dallmeyer, will be led by showrunner Kevin Brennecke. Executive producers of the project include Ben Wicks and Tim Hincks of Expectation and Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman of The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC).
