The parents of a 1-year-old child in Georgia were arrested after they were allegedly recorded at a local bar sneaking their toddler beer, only to later call it a “dumb decision.”

Craig Banks, 34, and Paetyn Gregory, 30, were both taken into custody last week and charged with one count each of contributing to the delinquency of a dependent or minor.

Deputies with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office on the evening of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, responded to the Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom in the 200 block of Fischer Crossing Drive in Sharpsburg, Georgia, which is about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta. The deputies were dispatched after the restaurant manager called the sheriff about a couple that was sitting at the bar — later identified as Banks and Gregory — who had been serving alcohol to a small child, according to a report from The Newnan Times-Herald.

The Times-Herald reported that the child’s first birthday was less than two weeks prior.

The manager reportedly noted that there was surveillance footage of the couple giving the child alcohol.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders made contact with the manager, who pointed out Banks and Gregory in the parking lot. Deputies then approached the couple, noting that there was a distinct odor of alcohol coming from Banks.

When asked about the manager’s allegations about feeding the child beer, Banks and Gregory both initially denied there was any truth to the claim.

“My baby is one, why the f— would I do that?” he reportedly responded.

Gregory, who was holding the toddler, allegedly said that she and Banks had not been drinking at all, claiming that what the manager saw was her giving the child a sip of the tea she was drinking, Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB reported.

However, deputies reportedly stated that video footage from inside the restaurant contradicted the couple’s claims.

In the footage, Banks allegedly appeared to be sitting at the bar and waiting for the bartender to turn his back to him. When the bartender turned around, Banks would allegedly sneak the toddler sips of beer. Gregory, who was holding the child at the time, was allegedly seen laughing each time. The couple did this about six times, authorities said.

They then put the toddler in a high chair and allegedly continued giving their child beer and laughing.

After viewing the footage, both parents were placed under arrest. When confronted about the videos, Gregory allegedly admitted what happened.

“I wasn’t thinking and made a dumb decision,” she reportedly told police.

The Times-Herald further reported that following his arrest, Bank was confrontational with police, telling them he was going to urinate in the police car.

Following the couple’s arrest, the child was placed in the custody of a grandparent, WSB reported.
