A startling video making waves on the internet captures a harrowing incident involving the attempted murder of a police officer.
The situation unfolded at 11:56 a.m. when a sergeant from the Whitpain Township Police Department tried to pull over a white Mercedes G-Wagon. The driver, however, took off at high speed, recklessly swerving across the concrete median. Recognizing the growing danger to public safety, the officer chose to halt the pursuit and instead notified neighboring departments to keep an eye out for the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, at 12:39 p.m., officers from the Plymouth Township Police Department responded to a report at Doubletree Guest Suites, where the elusive Mercedes was located.
Positioning his vehicle behind the Mercedes and turning on the emergency lights, the officer was met with a violent response. The Mercedes, allegedly driven by Dalton Janiczek, suddenly reversed and rammed into the patrol car multiple times, using the luxury vehicle as a weapon.
After exiting his vehicle, the officer instructed Janiczek to cease his actions. Instead, Janiczek accelerated towards the officer, prompting the officer to fire his weapon in self-defense.
The officer is injured during this car attack, and while on the ground, he attempts to put a tourniquet on his wounded leg, while he also watches as Janiczek circles the parking lot and heads back to hit him again, and again, and again.
Janiczek flees the parking lot. Thankfully, the attempted murder of a police officer is caught on tape.
Dalton Janiczek is no stranger to local police. In the week before his arrest, he had been involved in several incidents in the area, including a threat to bomb a police station.
Janiczek lives a life of privilege with his high-flying, locally famous attorney father, Lee Janiczek, growing up in Amber, Pennsylvania, in a $1.4 million dollar home.
Janiczek graduated from LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, and then spent two years at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, where he was on the rowing team.
His grandfather, Dr. Lee J. Janiczek, the longest-serving commissioner in Springfield Township, retired in 2019 after 44 years of public service.
