A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after he allegedly slit his wife’s throat and then stabbed her multiple times to make sure she was dead.

The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office said that Bethlehem Township Police were sent to the home James Christopher Frank, 57, shared with his wife, 55-year-old Deborah Glaser, Tuesday morning for a welfare check requested by a relative. Police were eventually met by Frank, who told them that Glaser was dead in the bathroom.

Officers found Glaser with multiple stab wounds and also found “various cutting instruments, including knives, razor blades, and box cutters, along with a hammer and a mallet.”

“Frank admitted to police that he used a steak knife to cut Glaser’s throat in the trachea area while she was still alive,” the DA’s office said. “Frank then admitted to using a knife and a hammer to puncture Glaser’s chest and heart, estimating he did so approximately ten times. Frank admitted that the purpose of these actions was to ensure Glaser was deceased.”

District Attorney Stephen Baratta told WFMZ that Frank didn’t appear for work on Monday or Tuesday and that his employer came to the house Tuesday morning but got no answer at the door.

Officers used a ladder to reach a second floor window to gain access to the house. That’s when the met Frank, who told them “My wife is dead in the bathtub.”

“I don’t want to call it a confession, but he made admissions after his participation in the death of his wife,” Baratta said.

“We can’t confirm how long she had been dead, but it was pretty clear that it was many hours prior to the police response,” said Baratta.

Frank was arrested and charged with criminal homicide.
