A 33-year-old woman from Alabama finds herself in custody after reportedly misleading police about her daughter’s disappearance, a case she brought to their attention earlier this week.
Adrienne Reid is charged with providing false information to authorities regarding the vanishing of her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid. Police in Enterprise, located approximately 80 miles south of Montgomery, responded to Reid’s report of Genesis missing shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday. Reid claimed she discovered her daughter was gone when she found her apartment’s front door ajar.
Despite a thorough search of the complex, law enforcement was unable to locate the child.
“During the course of the investigation, detectives uncovered inconsistencies in the details provided, prompting them to intensify their investigative efforts,” police stated in a Facebook post.
Currently, a comprehensive search is underway involving the Enterprise police, the FBI, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, among other organizations. On Wednesday, a cadaver dog was deployed to scour the area surrounding the apartment complex. According to Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore, while Genesis’s other family members have been “very cooperative,” Reid has been notably uncooperative, as he mentioned during a press conference.
Cops say Genesis actually hasn’t been seen for “several weeks.” The only lead Reid has divulged is that her daughter may be with a woman named “Moriah.” But Reid has not given any other contact information for the woman, per Moore. Reid allegedly told cops “Moriah” would hang out at Levels Bar and Grille on Daleville Avenue in Enterprise as well as areas in Ozark.
“We are confident that Adrienne made a false report that Genesis walked out of the apartment at 3 a.m.,” Moore told reporters.
Authorities have sent out several search teams in the area looking for the girl, who was supposedly wearing Minnie Mouse pajamas when she went missing.
Anyone with information related to Genesis Reid, including possible sightings, locations, or any detail that may assist investigators, is asked to contact the Enterprise Police Department at 334-347-2222.
