Press release from Gainesville Police Department
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On April 22, 2025, at approximately 4:51 a.m., the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) received a call from Shands Hospital security regarding a woman who had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The woman was brought to the hospital by her husband.
Officers immediately responded to the hospital and made contact with the husband, who was subsequently transported to GPD headquarters for questioning.
The victim was treated by the Shands medical team but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
A protective sweep was conducted at the couple’s residence located in the 100 block of NW 7th Terrace, and the scene was secured for further investigation and processing.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.
