An Ohio sheriff’s deputy lost his life after he responded to a domestic violence call and was allegedly shot by the man at the home.
Brian Michael Wilson, 53, was charged with aggravated murder after the violent confrontation on Monday that resulted in the shooting death of Morrow County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31. According to court documents obtained by local NBC affiliate WLWT, Sherrer had responded to calls of a domestic disturbance at Wilson’s home on Memorial Day. The 4-year veteran of the sheriff’s department was allegedly greeted by gunfire upon his arrival.

Sherrer’s body camera reportedly captured the alleged confrontation with Wilson that led up to his final moments. According to WLWT’s reporting, Sherrer approached Wilson’s home where the suspect was seated on his front porch, allegedly armed and warning the deputy, “Don’t come up here,” and “Don’t f—ing come around that corner, I will f—ing kill you.”
When Sherrer disregarded the warning, Wilson continued to spew vulgarities and threats at him, saying, “I’m not f—ing playing, you better just f—ing go if you want your family to see you tomorrow,” and “Get the f— out of here now.”
Sherrer reportedly continued to attempt to speak to Wilson, who then allegedly opened fire on the deputy. According to court documents, also obtained by the Columbus Dispatch, Wilson allegedly used two handguns, both of which were recovered at the scene. The documents stated that Sherrer’s body camera picked up the audio of the “clicks” of one of Wilson’s guns, which he allegedly fired until he ran out of ammunition.
Court documents stated that one of Wilson’s neighbors told police that the suspect said earlier that night, “I don’t want you around this. I don’t want you to get involved. If I were to die tonight, I’d be okay with it.”
The Columbus Dispatch reported that Wilson has a criminal history going back to the 1990s, including a 2009 arrest following a domestic violence incident in his former home in Ohio’s Marion County.
Wilson was also shot by police during the alleged incident and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of aggravated murder.
