In Texas, a man is accused of murder following a harrowing incident where he allegedly accelerated his vehicle with his girlfriend clinging to the hood. He abruptly braked, causing her to be thrown off and hit her head on the pavement.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Lamireon Robinson, reportedly delayed taking 35-year-old Sharette Hervey to the hospital for 10 hours. Hervey succumbed to her injuries eight days later, according to authorities in Texas.

The Corsicana Police Department detailed in a press release that hospital staff inquired with law enforcement on October 4 after Hervey was admitted with severe head trauma. Robinson had transported Hervey to the medical facility, telling staff she had “fallen” and was experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and confusion. Her injuries included a fractured skull and a significant brain bleed.

As detectives delved into the case, juvenile witnesses revealed that Robinson allegedly erased surveillance footage at his residence on the incident day. Relatives also informed officers that his car’s hood was damaged but quickly repaired.

Footage from Carroll Elementary School provided crucial evidence, capturing a “domestic dispute” between Robinson and Hervey. The video showed Robinson entering his vehicle and attempting to drive away. Hervey climbed onto the hood, trying to prevent his departure. Robinson then drove ahead, apparently attempting to unseat her from the car, without success, according to the press release.

That’s when Robinson “accelerated rapidly” out of the driveway onto the street where he drove roughly 30 yards before applying “hard brakes” causing Hervey to fly off the vehicle, slam her head on pavement and roll several yards, according to detectives.

“The footage further showed the suspect spending several minutes attempting to lift the unconscious victim into the vehicle before returning to the residence,” cops wrote.

Robinson allegedly waited 10 hours to take his girlfriend to the hospital. Cops obtained a warrant for his arrest on aggravated assault and two counts of tampering with evidence. He was charged with murder after Hervey died on Oct. 12.

The suspect “actively eluded law enforcement” until he hired an attorney and turned himself in to police on Friday.

He remains in the Navarro County Justice Center on a $300,000 bond.

Corsicana is roughly 55 miles south of Dallas.
