A Michigan man was arrested after taking part in an alleged home invasion and car theft — and prosecutors said he made his young daughter help him.
Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, 29, was arrested in connection with the home invasion of an unnamed 75-year-old man from Detroit and the theft of a car in Dearborn Heights, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a press release on Monday. According to the release, the alleged home invasion took place on April 30 at about 8:43 p.m. Broadenax was allegedly driving the stolen car and might have had a passenger inside — his 11-year-old daughter.

According to prosecutors, Broadenax “forced his 11-year-old daughter to assist him with the home invasion.” Local ABC affiliate WXYZ reported that according to dispatch audio from the night of the alleged home invasion, the 75-year-old’s son arrived at the property and came upon Broadenax, who then fled the scene on foot — leaving the allegedly stolen car and his daughter at the scene.
Detroit Police Department officers caught up with Broadenax a short time later and arrested him. He was charged with first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion, larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle, including a minor to commit a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
At a hearing on Monday, Broadenax’s bond was doubled to $150,000 with the conditions that he wear a tether and remain on house arrest if he bonds out, the prosecutor’s office said. He is scheduled to appear for a probable cause conference on May 14 and a preliminary examination on May 21.
