A 19-year-old in South Carolina has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill a member of Congress on social media, saying they were going to “assassinate” Republican Rep. Nancy Mace. Samuel Theodore Cain, who also goes by the name “Roxie Wolfe,” was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with one count of threatening the life of person of a public official, records reviewed by Law&Crime show.

According to an arrest warrant from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Cain, on April 26, 2025, posted the threat to Mace’s life on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

“I’m going to assassinate Representative Nancy Mace with a gun and I’m being 100% dead a–,” the post said, per the warrant.

Following an investigation, federal agents interviewed Cain on April 30. During that interview, Cain allegedly “admitted to authoring and posting the threat” against Mace.

“Cain therefore unlawfully, knowingly, and willfully delivered or conveyed a threat to take the life of a public official,” adding that the threat “directly related to Mace’s public official responsibilities.”

Based on local reports, it appears that Cain is a biological man who identifies as a woman.

Mace, an outspoken opponent of transgender rights, used the opportunity to vilify and mock the transgender community at large.

“I hope they have makeup wipes in prison,” the representative for the 1st Congressional District in South Carolina told Fox Digital News. “I’ve waited for this for a long time. Trans activists have been threatening to kill me every day for over six months, ever since I started filing bills to protect women’s spaces.”

During a bond hearing on Friday, Mace also addressed the court, reading a victim impact statement in which she made the blanket claim that “men who cross-dress as women are mentally ill,” per the report, adding, “This is who these people are.”

Mace in November introduced a resolution prohibiting members of Congress from “using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.” Notably, only one member of Congress, Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware, identifies as being transgender.

A judge on Friday denied bond for Cain.
