In the early hours of today, Gainesville, Florida, became the backdrop for the arrest of Christian Ronald Vradenburgh, 47, who faces allegations of stalking his former girlfriend.
Events took a concerning turn on the evening of March 9 when an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the bustling area of Celebration Pointe. The call was prompted by the victim’s alarming report that she was being followed by Vradenburgh, her ex-boyfriend. This incident followed a previous response by the Gainesville Police Department, during which Vradenburgh allegedly intruded into her home uninvited and repeatedly returned to peer through her windows.
Despite the victim’s persistent attempts to distance herself and avoid him, Vradenburgh’s relentless pursuit left her in fear of potential harm should he catch up with her. The situation escalated as the victim provided video evidence reportedly capturing Vradenburgh tailing her vehicle along Archer Road and subsequently veering into Celebration Pointe.
The victim told the deputy that she had made several attempts to evade Vradenburgh, but he kept following her, and she was afraid of what he would do if he found her.
The victim reportedly had video that showed Vradenburgh driving behind her on Archer Road and turning into Celebration Pointe.
The deputy made contact with Vradenburgh in the parking lot of Texas Roadhouse, and Vradenburgh reportedly said he was there to meet his girlfriend for supper, but he changed his mind and decided to go to Wawa, instead.
The deputy’s investigation found that Vradenburgh “willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly followed and harassed” the victim, causing her to be in fear.
A few hours later, deputies learned that Vradenburgh was at a property in the 1600 block of SW 91st Street, and a deputy found him sitting in his vehicle on the property. Vradenburgh was asked to get out of his vehicle and was arrested at about 3 a.m.
Post Miranda, Vradenburgh reportedly said he was “out around town” to shoot videos with his truck. He said he cut through the Texas Roadhouse parking lot because it was “easier to get to Wawa.”
Vradenburgh, who is described as homeless on the arrest report, has been charged with stalking. He has one felony conviction (non-violent) and four misdemeanor convictions (violent) and is on pre-trial release on a 2023 case out of Brevard County for organized fraud and contracting without a license. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $20,000 and ordered him to be fitted with a GPS monitor.
