A 23-year-old Georgia woman wanted in the death of her 1-year-old child earlier this month has been found and arrested in upstate New York.

Rockdale County officials launched a desperate search for Gloria Wright after the medical examiner found that the child died from blunt force trauma to the head, with “acute skull fractures (that) were not the result of an accidental fall or drop” — and because Wright is pregnant, WSB reported.

“We have a small child that has lost its life in the hands of its mother and we would like to get this mother in custody because she is currently carrying another child right now, so we would like to get her in custody for her safety and for the safety of that child,” Rockdale County Sheriff’s investigator Grote Levett said.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, deputies responded to a call about an infant not breathing on January 8. The child died at a hospital later that day.

Wright was interviewed at the time but not arrested, and once investigators had a cause of death for the baby, they couldn’t locate her.

The sheriff’s office announced on Saturday that she had been located in Rochester, New York, with the assistance of the US Marshals Service. It’s not clear when she will be extradited to Georgia.

She will face charges of murder and cruelty to children when she returns.
