In Wisconsin, a mother expecting her third child recounts a terrifying incident where she was assaulted by a woman allegedly involved in a relationship dispute with her. The attack, which included a male accomplice, involved the use of a metal baseball bat and threats against her unborn child.

Gheonna Lacy shared her ordeal with ABC affiliate WISN, describing how she was suddenly confronted outside her workplace, a group home in Racine, by the hooded duo. Lacy attributes the violent encounter to ongoing issues related to the relationship conflict with the female assailant.

“They knocked me down immediately,” Lacy recalled. “They were swinging the bat and stomping on me.”

Lacy claims the female attacker was intent on harming her unborn child as she fought to shield her abdomen. The unexpected assault occurred around 7 a.m. last Thursday as she was preparing to warm up her car. Surveillance footage captured by a Ring camera and reviewed by WISN shows the attackers approaching Lacy stealthily.

“Being pregnant, you assume a level of safety, thinking no one would harm you,” Lacy expressed. “The incident replays in my mind every time I try to sleep.”

A GoFundMe that was launched by Lacy’s employer says she is currently pregnant with her third child and works “providing daily care, compassion, and support to other people’s loved ones.” She was getting ready to leave work that morning when the attackers snuck up on her, the description says.

“As she walked outside toward her vehicle, one male and one female were waiting for her and brutally attacked her,” the GoFundMe alleges. “She was beaten with a metal baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and stomped on — including blows to her stomach, face, and entire body.”

Lacy was hospitalized after the assault and was being “closely monitored,” along with her unborn child. “This traumatic incident has left her physically injured, emotionally shaken, and unable to work at this time,” the GoFundMe explains.

Police told WISN that an investigation has been launched and the suspects are currently being sought. No arrests had been made as of Sunday.
