Reality star Mackayla Paige, known by the nickname “Kash,” was fatally shot in Oakland, California, authorities said.
Paige, 29, appeared on RoomH8z, Real West Coast Baddies and Young & Reckless. She was shot in downtown Oakland shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 11. Officers performed life-saving measures before taking her to a hospital, where she later died, an Oakland Police Department spokesperson told Oxygen. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
A woman from Richmond was arrested in connection with the shooting. Police have not released her identity.
Just hours before her death, Paige had shared moments from a night out on her Instagram Stories, according to KTVU. A memorial was later created at the location where the shooting occurred.
“I’m in disbelief,” Paige’s cousin Nicky Clayton told KTVU. “She was chilling. She was with family…I don’t know what transpired, but I know she’s supposed to be here.”
Clayton said Paige was determined to build a career in entertainment and business. “She wanted to be famous so bad,” the cousin said. “She still had morals, don’t get me wrong. She wanted to be a reality star. She wanted to start her own business. She was modeling for a lot of companies, and she really wanted to do makeup.”

Her friend Poodahh remembered Paige as someone who brought energy and laughter wherever she went. “Oh my God, she was so fun,” the friend said, according to KTVU. “Was she not hella fun? Oh my God, this girl was so fun. She had us everywhere.”
Paige was also described as a loyal friend who encouraged the people around her to pursue their full potential.
“She pushes me to be better every day,” the friend continued. “She sees when I’m not giving it my all, and she pushes me to be what she knows I could be.”
Poohdah added, “She’s not gone. I can’t speak to her in the past tense.”
