On Thursday, authorities in Georgia resumed their efforts to locate a woman who disappeared in 2022.
The Albany Police Department, as reported by WALB, has joined forces with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Albany Fire Department, Dougherty County EMS, and the District Attorney’s Office in their ongoing search for 23-year-old Lacambria Toomer. This renewed search effort comes after a previous one conducted on November 1.
Lacambria Toomer was last seen in Albany in 2022. Despite the arrest of her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, Ryan Cooper, on murder charges in 2023, her whereabouts remain unknown.
In an incident occurring a year before Toomer went missing, Cooper allegedly assaulted her with a handgun and bit her.
According to WSB-TV, Cooper initially claimed to have dropped Toomer off at a Love’s Truck Stop in Cordele. However, police later found this statement to be false.
Toomer’s phone reportedly last pinged at an abandoned home in Dawson, about a half-hour drive from Albany.
Dougherty County district attorney Gregory Edwards previously told WALB that the evidence suggests Toomer was killed in Dougherty County.
Records indicated that Cooper remains jailed on $49,000 bail.
