The search for a missing man who disappeared along a South Carolina trail in 2024 remains active, authorities have confirmed.

Zelig Williams, 29, was last observed on October 3, 2024, traversing the Palmetto Trail in Richland County. According to WACH, an extensive search in December 2024 at Congaree National Park yielded no clues to Williams’ whereabouts. His vehicle was discovered on the trail the day following his disappearance.

Family members reported receiving an SOS signal from Williams’ phone on the morning he disappeared. The alert, relayed by a friend in New York, suggested an incident had occurred. However, investigators noted that his car showed no signs of an accident.

Prior to his disappearance, Williams had returned from a stint on Broadway and was preparing to teach a dance class that same month.

At this point, authorities have not determined if foul play is involved in Williams’ case.

Williams was reportedly last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and brown slides. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.

Zelig Williams’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
