Russell Brand Under Investigation Over Two More Rape Allegations After Conviction

Authorities say Russell Brand remains under investigation over separate accusations following his conviction on rape and sexual assault charges.

The Metropolitan Police said two additional women have reported allegations of rape against the actor.

“The suspect has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson told Oxygen. “Files have been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to both complainants.”

According to Sky News, Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said in a separate interview that additional potential victims may come forward. He also described Brand as a “danger to women.”

Russell Brand Convicted of Rape and Sexual Assault

Brand was convicted on Nov. 5 of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault after separate allegations involving four women dating back more than 20 years.

Investigators interviewed more than 100 witnesses and reviewed thousands of documents as part of the case, authorities said.

Brand pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations. Although he was found guilty on four counts, he was acquitted of two counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.
Oxygen contacted Brand’s attorney for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

“Brand used his influence, status and fame to exploit and sexually offend against women,” Furphy said after the guilty verdict. “As his profile grew, so too did his sense of entitlement. I hope this conviction sends a clear message that no one is above the law, no matter how famous or powerful they may be.”

Justice Joel Bennathan told Brand he could receive a “significant custodial term,” according to NBC News.

The maximum sentence for rape in Britain is life imprisonment, according to the country’s Sentencing Council.

Brand was taken into custody after his conviction and is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 9.
