Savannah Guthrie recently addressed the latest developments in the case involving Nancy Guthrie.
On June 23, the Today cohost shared her thoughts, following new reports about a letter declaring her mother’s death that surfaced just the day before.
“I want to take this moment to appeal to everyone, to implore people to come forward,” she urged. “Someone out there has information, and while this story may be new to some, it’s the reality my sister, brother, extended family, and I face, the reality our children live with every single day. It’s heartbreaking. We cannot find peace.”
At 54, Savannah expressed the unwavering love her family has for the 84-year-old Nancy, declaring, “We will never cease our search for her.”
A Letter To Media Said Nancy Guthrie Is Dead
Since Nancy’s disappearance in February, a second message was sent to media organizations, asserting that the octogenarian had passed away, according to three sources familiar with the case as reported by NBC News.
The note’s existence was known, but the contents had not been made public. The note also did not contain an apology or request for payment for the release of her body, per the outlet.
Investigators involved in the case had examined two notes sent to media outlets and confirmed they are “potentially credible,” NBC News reported. The notes had been sent to NBC News affiliate KOLD news director Jessica Bobula.
When Did Nancy Guthrie Disappear?
Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of her Tuscon, Ariz. home. She was reported missing on Feb. 1 by her family.
On May 9, three months after her disappearance, the Tuscon Police Department confirmed that a human bone had been found seven miles from her residence.
But, the finding was “not criminal in nature,” a spokesperson for the police told People, noting that it was a “prehistoric anthropological investigation.”
The FBI is also offering a reward of up to $100,000 “for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
