A man accused of killing his sister late last year has been extradited back to South Carolina after he fled to North Carolina following the murder.

The body of Lisa Rosenzweig, 53, was found in her home on November 9 after her daughter requested a welfare check, WSOC reported.

Prosecutors say that Rosenzweig was allowing her brother, Anthony Lopez, to live at her home. Lopez was arrested in Charlotte on December 6, the Rock Hill Herald said.

“Lisa Rosenzweig came home, and her brother, seated here today, was waiting for her when she arrived home,” Rock Hill Police Detective Robert Smith said in court on Friday according to WSOC. “A place where she allowed him to stay, to get him off the street, he brutally murdered her.”

Detectives said Rosenzweig was bludgeoned to death.

Lopez has declined an attorney and is representing himself on the murder charge. He faces the death penalty if he’s convicted, WCCB said. He told reporters to “follow God’s law and man’s law” as he entered the courtroom on Friday, the station said.

He was ordered held without bond and is expected back in court in March.
