‘I love you so much’: Mother of Missing Scottie Morris Speaks Out as Search Continues, Day 4

An Indiana teen missing for eight days was found Friday night, but the circumstances of the disappearance remained unclear Saturday morning.

A police officer in Eaton located 14-year-old Scottie Dean Morris around 10:30 p.m. Friday at Harford and Harris streets, according to a Facebook post from the Eaton Police Department.

“Scottie has been located and found safe!” the post reads.

Police chief Jay Turner later told the Muncie Star Press that Morris “appears to be OK” but would be examined at an area hospital to ensure his wellness.

Morris was reportedly speaking with his mother when the officer spotted them.

Turner had said that he expected investigators would conduct interviews throughout the night to understand what happened. Early Saturday, however, Turner said the teen “has been placed in another home” for the evening and that interviews would resume later Saturday, according to the Star Press.

“The family is cooperating with every aspect of the investigation,” Turner said in a subsequent news release.

Morris had been reported missing on March 16 after he walked away from his family’s home, prompting law enforcement to issue an urgent alert that he may have been in “extreme danger.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, authorities said there was some sort of conflict in the home before the boy disappeared, with Turner describing the situation as “over punishment.” A photo taken of Morris on the day he vanished showed words scribbled on the front of his T-shirt stating “I’m a liar” and “cheat.”

Since Morris went missing, community members came together to search for him and had held events in his honor, including a candlelight vigil and march.

Eaton is located about 75 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
