Police in New York are searching for a nonverbal and autistic 11-year-old who reportedly has not been seen in over a month.

On Saturday, police identified the missing boy as Jacob Pritchett. Police arrived at his home in Brownsville for a second time Wednesday, after receiving a call concerning a welfare check made by the Administration for Children’s Services.

PIX 11 reports that upon arrival, police found the apartment (near East New York and Howard Aves) “unkempt” and took the child’s mother for evaluation. She’s not currently facing criminal charges.

According to the New York Daily News, ACS become involved after someone contacted the hotline, over concerns for Jacob’s safety, on September 25.

The mother answered the door but refused to let the state workers inside. Police then arrived, and she allowed them in but claimed she never had a son.

When police and ACS returned to the home again on Wednesday, the mother allegedly became enraged and repeated that she did not have a child, despite investigators determining that she did.

It’s unclear when Jacob was last seen, but neighbors reportedly told police that they hadn’t seen him in around six weeks. One neighbor said that Jacob was never outside and never went to school.

Police said they are using a sketch of the child since they have been unable to obtain any photos of him.

The New York Post reports that investigators later brought a K9 into the home. The dog reportedly picked up on traces of human blood near the refrigerator.

Jacob is described as having a medium complexion, with brown eyes and black hair.
