As the deadline for Nancy Guthrie’s ransom approaches, questions loom over whether it will be met.

Experts believe that the two ransom notes, each with different deadlines, indicate a calculated strategy and an effort to manipulate the investigation. While authorities work to verify the authenticity of these notes, the Guthrie family feels compelled to consider them legitimate.

The family’s responses provide some insight into their contents. In their initial video message, the Guthries requested “proof of life.”

By the third message, the family’s stance shifted, as they no longer sought proof and simply stated, “We will pay.”

Analysts argue that the staggered deadlines in the ransom notes show a high level of planning and an intention to steer the investigation. With investigators striving to assess the notes’ legitimacy, the Guthrie family has little choice but to treat them as genuine threats.

The replies also share insight into the content of the notes. In their first posted video response, the Guthries asked for “proof of life.”

The most recent reply message no longer seeks this proof and says, “We will pay.”

Shortly after the release of the Guthrie family video, deputies arrived back on the scene at the home of Nancy Guthrie. In contrast, a significant presence of law enforcement arrives at the home of Annie Guthrie for a late-night search, continuing for hours.

This is at least the second time Annie’s home has been searched, and law enforcement is not answering questions.

The search lasted for more than three hours, ending around 10:30 pm, with officers coming out of the house wearing blue gloves and carrying brown bags.
