Gainesville, Fla. – In a disturbing incident that unfolded on a popular local trail, authorities have arrested 36-year-old Martin Delray Lavel Cloud. Cloud faces allegations of indecent exposure and voyeurism after reportedly engaging in lewd behavior and filming women without their consent.
The sequence of events began around 8:30 a.m. on March 23, when a woman jogging along the Hawthorne Trail near SE 4th Street encountered a man behaving inappropriately. She recounted witnessing the individual, later identified as Cloud, making suggestive movements in his crotch area. As she passed by the area a second time, she noticed him pointing a camera at her, tracking her movements with his phone.
Law enforcement officials from the Gainesville Police Department quickly responded to the scene. An officer on patrol observed Cloud filming another woman as she walked along the trail. Upon noticing the patrol vehicle, Cloud attempted to flee but was swiftly caught after a short pursuit on foot.
Further investigation into Cloud’s background revealed that he had recently been released from his status as a registered sexual offender as of March 11, 2026. Although Cloud was born in Gainesville, his current address is listed in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he reportedly works for a Walmart. However, records from Georgia courts suggest that he is currently residing in Gainesville, confirmed through his Georgia identification.
According to the arrest report, Cloud was released from Sexual Offender status on March 11, 2026. The arrest report also notes that he was born in Gainesville, but his listed address is in Grand Junction, Colorado, and his employer is listed as a Walmart in Grand Junction. He was identified by his Georgia ID photo, and Georgia court records indicate that he currently lives in Gainesville.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims, and potential victims or witnesses are encouraged to contact GPD detectives at 352-393-7670.
Cloud has been charged with indecent exposure and resisting an officer without violence. His full criminal history is unavailable; his criminal history in Alachua County stops in 2015, and he had three misdemeanor convictions at that time. He was arrested in Georgia in 2021 on misdemeanor charges of sexual battery, battery, public indecency, and disorderly conduct; he entered a plea of nolo contendere to battery and was sentenced to 364 days in jail, and the rest of the charges were dropped. Also in 2021, he was charged with child molestation, cruelty to children, and violating probation; he entered a plea of nolo contendere to cruelty to children and was sentenced to one year in jail, followed by five years of probation, and he was required to register as a sexual offender; his probation was revoked after he was arrested in August 2025 for exploiting an elderly person.
Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $10,000 on the new charges.
