In a disturbing turn of events, Florida authorities have charged three young boys with the brutal sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, an incident that took place last year. The boys, aged 12, 13, and 15, now face adult charges for their alleged involvement in the crime that unfolded in a Miami community garden in June 2025.
According to reports from WTVJ, the harrowing ordeal began when the 13-year-old suspect allegedly seized the young girl and led her to a nearby couch in the garden. The other two suspects, along with a witness, reportedly followed them to the scene. During the assault, the youngest of the assailants is accused of cruelly stuffing rocks into the victim’s mouth in an attempt to silence her cries for help.
However, it was the brave actions of the victim’s father that ultimately brought the attack to a halt. Hearing his daughter’s muffled screams, he called out, inadvertently frightening the suspects and causing them to flee the scene. This timely intervention provided the crucial break needed in this case.
Although the suspects were initially detained the day following the alleged crime, the decision to charge them as adults was only recently reached. Meanwhile, the witness to the assault reportedly did not engage in the attack, claiming fear of retribution from the trio if he intervened.
The victim said the witness did not participate in the attack. The witness told police he did not intervene because he feared getting beaten up by the trio.
“It’s not like it’s people we didn’t know! They knew me, and I knew them. There were times when I would come home from work, and they would all be outside sitting on the porch. I don’t know what happened that night,” the victim’s mother told WSVN, referring to her daughter’s alleged attackers.
The 12-year-old is charged with aggravated battery and false imprisonment, while the 13-year-old was charged with sexual battery on a minor by a minor and kidnapping. The 15-year-old was charged with sexual battery, false imprisonment, and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
WSVN reported that the two younger victims remain jailed without bond. They are due back in court on Monday.
