Michael McKee, the alleged perpetrator, chose not to contest his extradition, resulting in a 10-day transfer process back to Ohio. Upon arrival in Columbus, McKee was incarcerated at the newly established James A. Karnes Corrections Center, a cutting-edge facility.
This modern detention center incorporates the most advanced features from leading jail systems nationwide, reinforcing the Division of Corrections’ dedication to reducing repeat offenses and enhancing public safety through robust reentry initiatives.
During his court appearance, McKee entered a plea of not guilty and opted not to request bond. Consequently, he will remain at Karnes Corrections Center until his defense attorney files for bail or the case proceeds to trial.
