Earlier this month, an unsettling incident occurred aboard the Carnival Horizon, where Anna Kepner’s younger brother unknowingly slept in a cabin with his sister’s body hidden under the bed.

According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, 18-year-old Anna was occupying a cabin with her 16-year-old stepbrother and her 14-year-old brother during their family’s six-day cruise through the Western Caribbean.

On November 6, Anna reportedly began feeling unwell and returned to the cabin. Her siblings also returned later that day. The 14-year-old brother mentioned changing clothes before heading out to take photos, as reported by the sources.

When the 14-year-old left, Anna was still in the cabin. However, upon his return, she was nowhere to be seen. Thinking nothing of her absence, he went to bed.

The next morning, when Anna did not join her family, they realized she was missing, leading to the discovery of her tragic fate.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, a room steward reportedly discovered Anna’s body at around 11 a.m. while cleaning the cabin. The ship then detoured and stopped at Port Miami on November 8.

Anna Kepner died on November 7, according to the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner. The Cruise Globe reports that the vessel was in Cuba at the time, on the northwest coast.

The medical examiner has not yet revealed how she died.

According to court documents, her 16-year-old stepbrother is now considered a suspect.

Anna Kepner’s birth mother has reportedly said she found out her daughter passed away through a Google search.

According to WESH, Anna’s mother, Heather Wright, who lives in Oklahoma, said she hasn’t seen her daughter in a few years, and that her father didn’t contact her.

“I found out through Google. I ended up Googling it, because the only information I had was that my daughter was on a cruise,” Wright said.

Wright remembered her daughter as a loving person who enjoyed being near the water and swimming.

“She always wanted to make people laugh. She loved the water; we were constantly going to the lake here where I live so she could go swimming,” Wright said.

Meanwhile, the FBI in Miami, currently leading the investigation, has not released additional details and has not confirmed the claims.
