In a disturbing road rage incident in Miami, a Florida man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife. The confrontation unfolded while she was attempting to back her vehicle into her driveway.
Kayan Dealmeida-Fernandes, aged 32, faces serious charges including four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As reported by court documents and noted by Law&Crime, the incident took place on November 6. Dealmeida-Fernandes was driving through a residential area when he encountered the woman maneuvering her car into her driveway. In response, he honked his horn and aggressively passed her vehicle, only to stop abruptly and confront her with profanity-laden accusations.
According to police reports, Dealmeida-Fernandes blocked the road with his vehicle and continued to berate the woman, who was still working to park her car. The situation escalated when he allegedly threatened her life, approaching with a pocketknife in hand. Alarmed, the woman called out for her husband, who quickly intervened.
The confrontation intensified as the husband pushed Dealmeida-Fernandes, who reportedly continued to brandish the knife, threatening both individuals. After a brief physical exchange, Dealmeida-Fernandes retreated to his car. As he departed, he allegedly brandished a firearm, hurling racial slurs and repeating his earlier threats before speeding away from the scene.
Authorities later located Dealmeida-Fernandes at his Miami residence. Upon leaving his home, he was stopped by police during a traffic stop and subsequently arrested. During the arrest, officers discovered a pocketknife in his possession and a gun inside his vehicle, corroborating the earlier allegations.
After Dealmeida-Fernandes was read his rights, he allegedly admitted to the verbal altercation and threatening the couple with the knife and gun. He was arrested and booked into the Metrowest Detention Center, where he is being held on $20,000 bond. His next court date is a bond hearing scheduled for Dec. 10.
