A 33-year-old man from Ohio faces accusations of fatally stabbing his father, a 69-year-old, inside the family home earlier this week.

Authorities detained Jared Luecke on Thursday, charging him with murder and tampering with evidence in connection to the death of John Luecke, court records have revealed.

Legal documents from the Hamilton County Municipal Court indicate that Jared Luecke assaulted his father during a “verbal altercation” on Thursday at their residence located in the 8300 block of Wicklow Avenue in Sycamore Township, roughly 10 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

The affidavit, authored by a detective from the county sheriff’s office, details that the conflict escalated when Jared retrieved a crowbar and a knife from his room. “Jared used the crowbar to hit John twice on the shoulder. During the struggle, John managed to grab the crowbar. Jared then picked up the knife, which had dropped from his pocket, and stabbed John seven to eight times in the front of his body,” the affidavit states.

The detective concluded that the injuries inflicted by his son directly led to the victim’s demise.

Additionally, during a post-Miranda interview with the detective, Jared Luecke allegedly admitted that after fatally stabbing his father, he attempted to cover his tracks by cleaning up the murder scene using household cleaning products he found in the kitchen.

A recording of the 911 call placed by Jared Luecke was obtained by Newport, Kentucky, Fox affiliate WXIX, and provided some additional details about the incident.

According to the report, Jared Luecke straightforwardly confessed to killing his father.

“I need to be arrested,” Jared Luecke allegedly told the emergency dispatcher. “I have been in a fight with my father and I think he is dead.”

He went on to state that he became incensed after his father pushed him during an argument.

“Yeah, we got into an altercation, and he shoved me, and I have and always carry a knife,” Jared Luecke reportedly said. “And it fell to the floor out of my pocket. And he picked it up, and I thought he was gonna come at me, and I just…I snapped.”

Before ending the 911 conversation, Jared Luecke reportedly revealed that he had a history of mental health struggles, telling the dispatcher that he was “not OK mentally.”

“I’ve had mental issues for a while, and I’ve tried telling people that I needed help and nobody ever cared,” he reportedly said. “I’ve had undiagnosed depression and also some ADHD — I don’t know, something is wrong with me.”

Jared Luecke was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on Thursday evening. He appeared before Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard on Friday and his bond was set at $1 million. It was not immediately clear when he was scheduled to make his next court appearance.
