A father from South Carolina is behind bars following accusations of threatening his 11-year-old son after the child requested food.

According to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Thomas Baker contacted 911 to report his son as “unruly” and unwilling to obey, seeking police intervention to remove him from their home. However, law enforcement found that Baker was the one displaying unruly behavior.

The young boy informed deputies that upon asking his father for food, he was met with a threat: “Get the f*** out of my room or I’m going to wreck your f***** face,” as noted in a police report. Baker allegedly issued further menacing remarks, including telling the child to harm himself.

As stated in court documents, the confrontation was caught on video and shared with authorities. The child expressed to deputies that he feared for his safety, uncertain of his father’s next actions, WIS reported.

The boy has since been placed under the care of a family member, while Baker faces charges of unlawful conduct toward a child, currently detained with a bond set at $25,000.
