GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a disturbing incident, 46-year-old Jomekia Lakresha Archer was taken into custody yesterday after allegedly brandishing a rifle at her neighbors, including children, in a residential area.

Officers from the Gainesville Police Department responded around 10:29 p.m. on March 14 to a call from Lincoln Estates. According to the report, tensions flared when Archer became upset over a vehicle parked in front of her home. Witnesses described her as belligerent, shouting and swearing at the group, demanding they move their cars.

Witnesses recalled Archer repeatedly threatening, “I got some for y’all,” before retreating into her home and reemerging with a rifle. She allegedly held the weapon at her hip, directing it towards the crowd, which included children. Fearful for their safety, the witnesses quickly ushered the children indoors and contacted emergency services.

Archer reportedly returned inside momentarily but then emerged again, allegedly pointing the rifle at the group a second time. When confronted by a neighbor who mentioned calling the authorities, Archer allegedly retorted, “Call who you wanna call, I don’t give a [expletive].” She eventually went back inside her house and came out again, this time without the firearm.

Post Miranda, Archer reportedly said she had never cursed at the victims and the victims started it by yelling and cursing at her. She denied saying, “I got some for y’all” but reportedly admitted going inside her house to get a “BB gun.” She said she never pointed the “BB gun” at the victims but held it by her hip, pointing at the ground.

Archer was also booked on a 2024 warrant for hosting a dogfight at a relative’s house. At least three people were arrested in 2024 on charges connected to the same incident, and Keith Gerard Miles is serving an 18-month prison sentence connected to the same incident.

Archer has been charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She has six felony convictions (non-violent) and six misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and has an active warrant out of Putnam County for driving under the influence. Bail for the warrant is set at $30,000, and bail on the new charges will be set tomorrow.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
