A worker at a group home in Wisconsin is accused of assaulting a teenage resident, with the alleged incident reportedly captured on video.
Latimmia Washington, aged 27, faces a charge of child abuse with intent to cause harm, as per court records from Milwaukee County. The alleged event took place on Wednesday, January 14.
According to a report by local Fox station WITI, Washington is accused of hitting a 17-year-old girl living in the facility, yanking her hair, and throwing her to the floor amid a dispute.
The report, which references a criminal complaint, states that Washington pursued the teenager to her room, where the assault allegedly occurred. The altercation reportedly began while Washington was assisting the teen in searching for a lost necklace. The complaint further notes that the situation escalated when the teen allegedly hit Washington, prompting Washington to retaliate.
WITI’s report details that the complaint describes Washington grabbing the teen by her hair and striking her while holding her head in place.
Two other teens reportedly witnessed the clash, with one of them recording it on her cellphone. A third resident told investigators that she saw the teen go upstairs to her room, followed by Washington.
“I’ll pop you,” Washington reportedly told the teen, according to the complaint.
Court records show that Washington was released but ordered to home detention. She is subject to a no-contact order barring her from communicating with the group home and anyone who works or lives there. If convicted, she faces up to six years behind bars.
Washington has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 26.
