Gerren Miles Crosson, 34, is facing a murder charge following the death of his 71-year-old mother, Alta Green Veasley. Officers from the Houston Police Department responded to an emergency call around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday at a residence located in the 11000 block of Harristown Drive, situated on Houston’s south side. Upon arrival, they discovered Veasley with several stab wounds.

According to court documents, Veasley sustained six stab wounds in total: two penetrated her heart, two were inflicted on her face, and one each struck the back of her head and her right arm. In her final moments, Veasley identified her son as the attacker to the responding officers. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared deceased.

Crosson was apprehended at the scene and reportedly confessed to the stabbing, stating to police, “I felt like it was something I needed to do.” Authorities have not released further information regarding a motive or the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. Currently held at Harris County Jail, Crosson remains in custody with a bond set at $750,000. He is scheduled to appear in court this coming Friday.

Crosson was detained at the scene and allegedly admitted to stabbing his mother, telling cops, “I felt like it was something I needed to do.” Cops have not publicly divulged any more information about a possible motive or the events that led up to the stabbing. He was transported to the Harris County Jail, where he remains on a $750,000 bond. His next court date is set for Friday.

It’s not the first time Crosson has allegedly assaulted his mother. In 2021, cops said Crosson repeatedly hit his mother in the face after a disagreement over food. He was charged with injury to an elderly person, but the case was later dismissed, per cops. He also pleaded guilty to evading police in 2010.
