In a shocking incident on Long Island, a man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a crossbow bolt at his sister, which narrowly missed causing serious harm. The dramatic event unfolded on a Friday evening in Lawrence, as reported by local authorities.

The Nassau County Police Department responded to a distress call from the residence just before 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 28-year-old victim with a laceration on her face, evidence of the violent encounter. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigations revealed that the alleged assailant was her brother, 21-year-old Samy Sedhom. He was promptly arrested at the scene. According to WABC, the victim recounted that she had just returned home from the gym, parking her car in the attached garage. Noticing Sedhom seated in his vehicle across the street, she proceeded to close the garage door. It was then that she suddenly felt a sharp pain on the side of her face and realized she was bleeding, prompting her to call the police.

Authorities found a crossbow bolt embedded in the garage’s back wall, confirming the sister’s allegations. A subsequent search of Sedhom’s bedroom uncovered a box containing a crossbow, alongside a Katana sword and a MacBook, all of which were confiscated by the police as part of their ongoing investigation.

Police arrived and found a crossbow bolt lodged in the back wall of the garage. They searched Sedhom’s bedroom and found a box for a crossbow, a Katana sword, and a MacBook, all of which they seized.

Prosecutors said at his arraignment on Sunday that Sedhom admitted trying to kill his sister and said he’d been planning the murder since Christmas. A judge remanded him to jail and ordered him to have no contact with his sister.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly the bolt split the victim’s ear  in half and that if it had struck just a couple of inches over, “we would be talking about a homicide,” News 12 said.

Donnelly described the motive as a “brother-sister rivalry,” saying the pair had been fighting over the temperature inside the house.

“She liked to keep it cooler, he wanted it warmer,” she said.

Sedhom is charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and stalking. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
