A man from Georgia, who was released from prison just a few months ago, has been arrested and charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in Swainsboro earlier this week.

Charles Justin Davis, aged 40, faces a malice murder charge in connection with the death of 34-year-old Amber Nichole Fields, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Source

The tragic discovery was made by a family member who went to check on Fields after she failed to show up for work. Davis was taken into custody on the same day.

Fields had previously survived a severe beating in 2011, defying doctors’ expectations of brain death, as reported by WTOC. Her then-boyfriend, Jason Browning, admitted to the attack and received a 20-year prison sentence in the following year.

WRDW reports that Davis had previously served six years behind bars for an aggravated assault conviction before being granted parole.
